Released: 09/18/2009

Applications for the 2010 Leadership Central Louisiana program are being accepted, announced Cathy Andries, director of the Department of Continuing Education at LSU Alexandria. The annual program, which has limited capacity, meets once a month for eight months beginning in January.

“The program builds leadership skills and provides excellent networking opportunities,” said Andries. “’We’ve designed an innovative curriculum that prepares participants for new challenges and builds leadership equity for them and the businesses or organizations they represent.”

Community topics in the program include the political process, impact of tourism and hospitality, public safety and law enforcement, environment and natural resources, military, economic development, arts and culture, and public health. Participants also are taught collaborative leadership, planning skills, leading with efficiency, and ethics, supervising and delegating.

The program costs $800, which includes workshops, materials, breakfast and lunch. Applications and additional information are available at or 473-6495.

This is the eighth year that the Department of Continuing Education at LSUA has sponsored the program. Nearly 200 people have graduated from Leadership Central Louisiana, including 22 from this year’s class.
