Laborde Appointed to PR Accreditation Board

Missy Laborde, assistant professor of communication studies at LSU Alexandria, has been appointed to the Public Relations Universal Accreditation Board. She will serve a three-year term beginning in 2010 as one of approximately 20 professionals nationally who will oversee the accreditation process for public relations practitioners.

Laborde will represent the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) on the Universal Accreditation Board. In 1997 she became one of the first public relations practitioners in Central Louisiana to earn accreditation by SPRF, and she has held several leadership positions in local and regional public relations organizations. Laborde will attend three meetings annually in New York City as a Universal Accreditation Board member.

Laborde was director of institutional advancement and executive director of the LSUA Foundation for 14 years before joining the university faculty three years ago. She teaches journalism and public relations.
