Deadline Approaching to Enter Ms. LSUA Pageant

Released: 01/05/2009

The deadline to enter the 2009 Ms. LSUA Pageant is Jan. 16, announced Kathryn Wimmert, pageant coordinator and counselor in the Office of Student Services. Registration forms are available in Room 206 of the Office of Student Services above the campus bookstore.

The pageant, which has been held annually since 1961, is open to any part- or full-time female student who has a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average with at least 12 hours of college credit. Entrants also must be active in an LSU at Alexandria student organization. The pageant will be held April 18.

The Ms. LSUA winner receives a $1,000 Chancellor’s Scholarship and represents the university at various functions. Additional information is available from Wimmert, 473-6545.

Contestants will participate in a pre-pageant interview conducted by three members of the community. Participants are judged at the pageant in a casual-wear introduction and an evening-wear presentation about their platform topics. Wimmert said contestants should have a working knowledge of LSUA, campus organizations and awareness of current events.
