LSU Alexandria Honors Cconvocation Set for April 7

<p> LSU Alexandria&acute;s 41st annual Honors Convocation is slated for Monday, April 7 at 3 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex. The Honors Convocation is an opportunity for the University to recognize and reward students for their achievements. Friends and family are invited and the public is also welcome. <p></p> Jill Kidder, executive director of the Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be the guest speaker for the event where awards will be given to approximately 55 students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to the University and community. Several community leaders are scheduled to present various awards during the event. <p></p> Before returning to central Louisiana two years ago, Kidder spent eleven years in the hotel industry in various sales and management capacities at the Hotel Bentley in Alexandria and the Radisson Read House in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For six years she worked for River Valley Partners, the Downtown/Riverfront development organization, as their marketing director and business development manager. <p></p> She is an active member of the Alexandria Rotary and is on the board the Louisiana Travel Promotions Association, the Alexandria Museum of Art and the Rivercity Cultural Alliance. She is vice president of the Louisiana Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. <p></p> Kidder is married to Robert and has one daughter.
