The Alumni & Friends Association at LSU at Alexandria will hold its spring social April 17 in the student center prior to that evening’s outdoor presentation of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” The social, which is open to alumni and university supporters, begins at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 5:45. Tickets are $5 for AFA members and $10 for the public. Tickets should be reserved through the LSUA Foundation at 619-2917.

The program includes a “state of the university” update by Dr. Tom Armstrong, interim chancellor and vice chancellor for academic and student affairs, and a report on undergraduate biology research from Dr. Sue Sullivan, holder of the F. Hugh Coughlin Endowed Professorship. Student scholarship winners also will participate.

Those who attend the AFA social will have the opportunity to participate in a pre-sale of the annual Friends of Bolton Library at LSUA book sale beginning at 4 p.m. Several thousand hardcover and paperback books will be available.
