March Continuing Education Classes

The Department of Continuing Education at LSU at Alexandria is offering 14 courses that begin in March, announced program specialist Shere'' Thaxton.

Beginner classes in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word will be offered for those interested in office applications. Three health and wellness classes will start next month: Ladies Beginning Golf, Ladies Intermediate Tennis and Basic Self Defense.

ACT English Prep will be offered to students who want to improve English skills for the ACT exam. Certified instructor John Lummus will conduct a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit and Renewal class. Another course, Private Investigator Basic Training, will prepare participants for the Louisiana Private Investigator Exam.

In the personal enrichment category classes will be offered in Dancing (two-step and waltz), Latin Dancing, A Taste of Tea (types, brewing and etiquette), Developing Tropical Landscapes in Central Louisiana, Gardening with Long Blooming Plants, Hodges Garden Tour, and Japanese Culture and Language.

The Department of Continuing Education also is offering a free Fantastic After 55 Fair on March 8 to inform seniors on a variety of issues, including health, recreation, cooking, hobbies and home medical equipment.

Students interested in on-line non-credit courses to develop professional skills in business, construction/automotive technology, Internet design and technical programs, networking and Comp TIA certification, Microsoft certification, and video game design and development may register any time for ongoing classes offered through LSUA continuing education by Gatlin Educational Services.
