LSU Alexandria Offers a Business Survival Luncheon

<p> Innovative Strategies for Challenging Times will be the topic of a Business Survival luncheon offered by LSU Alexandria on Friday, May 30 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex on the campus. <p></p> The cost of the program is $10, which includes lunch. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by May 26. Participants may pay in advance, at the door, or ask to be invoiced. The program will spotlight the Industry Education Alliance Program where businesses in Alabama have organized to improve their workforce and be more competitive by identifying common training needs and working with local training providers to meet those needs. <p></p>

The guest speaker for the program will be Betty Cummings, director of human resources for McGriff Industries, Inc., in Cullman, Alabama, and chairman of her local Industry Education Alliance. Cummings will discuss how the alliance was formed and how employers in her community work together to improve employee skills and productivity through the Industry Education Alliance. <p></p>

The program is open to central Louisiana employers, managers, supervisors, human resource professionals, in-house trainers and education coordinators, public and private training providers and organizations focused on workforce development. <p></p>

Alabama&acute;s Industry Education Alliance program was featured as a best practice in the Southern Growth Foundation&acute;s 2002 Report on the Future of the South, titled "The Mercedes and the Magnolia: Preparing the Southern Workforce for the Next Economy." The program also received the Bronze Award from Business Facilities magazine in the area of Workforce Development Partnership - Workforce Training Initiative. <p></p>
