Chancellor's Search Committee Meeting

Released: 02/17/2008

The Chancellor's Search Committee will meet Wednesday (Feb. 20) at 3 p.m. in the Live Oaks Room of the student center to continue the process of selecting the 12th chancellor for LSU at Alexandria. The meeting is open to the public.

Ten candidates were interviewed Friday and Saturday in Baton Rouge, and "five or six" will be chosen Wednesday to undergo a second round of public inteviews on the LSUA campus.

"Most members of the committee were present for the interviews in Baton Rouge," said Dr. Mary Treuting, chairwoman of the committee. "On Wednesday we'll review our findings with the few who weren't able to be present, and we'll vote on those whom we want to consider further."

Treuting said the candidates were "quite impressive, and the committee is confident that the next chancellor at LSUA will be a very able leader."

Dr. John Lombardi, president of the LSU System, will make the appointment after receiving a list of finalists from the 21-member Chancellor's Search Committee.

Dr. H. Rouse Caffey, a former LSUA chancellor, has been interim chancellor since Dr. Robert Cavanaugh retired in August after a long career at the university.

The initial pool of applicants numbered 68. Parker Executive Search has assisted in the selection process.
