LSUA Golf Tournament

Released: 02/05/2008

The Department of Business Administration at LSU at Alexandria is holding a golf tournament and silent auction March 14 at Alexandria Golf and Country Club to raise money for student interns. The scramble-format tournament will have four flights. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each flight, and the four par-three holes will feature a hole-in-one prize of a new car.

The entry fee is $75 per golfer. To enter contact Robbie Gueringer, the club's director of golf, at 442-2806. To sponsor a hole or donate items for the silent auction contact Dr. Cam Caldwell, associate professor of management, at 446-0129.

Caldwell said proceeds from the tournament will be used to match the salary paid to LSUA student interns by local businesses. "It's a win-win scenario because employers will be able to attract a higher caliber intern, and deserving students will earn more while obtaining valuable job-related experience," Caldwell said. "Our student intern program is mutually beneficial, and we're working hard to enhance it." LSUA business students also are involved in organizing and marketing the tournament.
