Empty Space Players Audition

Released: 01/14/2008

Auditions for the Empty Space Players production of "Vanities" will be Jan. 16-17 from 2:30-4 p.m. and Jan. 18 from 12-1:30 p.m. in the activity center of The Oaks apartments at LSUA.

There are three female roles in Jack Heifner's three-act comedy, which follows three girls from their high school days as cheerleaders to their lives as independent adults. The audition requires a cheer and script reading.

Audition packets can be obtained from the Department of Arts, English and Humanities in Coughlin Hall, according to Dr. Jim Stacy, director and associate professor of theatre and communication studies. They also will be available at the auditions.

"Vanities" will be performed on Hearn Stage at Kress Theatre in the Rapides Foundation Building Feb. 21-24 and Feb. 28-March 2.

Stacy said the auditions are open to the public but priority will be given to LSUA students. People with any level of experience are invited to audition.

"The three characters learn a lot about themselves and their friends, and they represent distinctly different personality types," Stacy said. "We want to find in each character their human truths, good and bad. I recommend that those who audition become familiar with the characters and determine the one to which they best relate."
