CAVANAUGH PUBLIC LECTURE: UNDER THE BALKAN SUN

The fourth of the Cavanaugh Public Lectures sponsored by LSU Alexandria Arts, English & Humanities will be held Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 pm at the Alexandria Museum of Art.

Dr. Ginger Jones, LSUA professor of English, will share her experiences as a 2006-07 Fulbright scholar in American Literature at the University of Montenegro in the former Yugoslavia.

The State Department, though the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars, selects 800 Fulbright scholars from the thousands of applications it receives each year. The speaker, Jones, is the first woman in central Louisiana to have been awarded a Fulbright, as well as the first woman professor of American Literature assigned to Montenegro. CIES has featured her story on the front page of its Web site.

This lecture is free and open to the public.

The public lecture was recently renamed the Cavanaugh Public Lectures to honor former Chancellor Robert Cavanaugh’s contributions to advancing Arts and Humanities in Central Louisiana.
