Public Lecture on Zen Cartoons Rescheduled for Sept. 24

Dr. Richard Collins will present a public lecture on “Zen Cartoons: Educating heart/mind” on Monday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at LSUA Downtown in the Alexandria Museum of Art.

Collins, chair of Arts, English & Humanities department, will answer the questions what can modern art teach us, how can ancient comic strip move us and what is Zen, anyway?

Collins has practiced and taught Zen meditation in temple and academic settings in addition to publishing on Zen literature and film. His published poetry includes a series of 53 poems inspired by Zen practice, Bodhidharma’s Eyelids. A Fulbright lecturer in Romania, he has also taught in Wales and Bulgaria. He was also the editor of Xavier Review for several years.

This lecture is free and open to the public.
